Welcome to the WS4M Home Page!

Yes, this is an Amateur Radio flavored web page. I've always had an interest in radio starting from when I was in the 3rd grade and Santa brought me a Crystal Radio kit for Christmas. I assembled it myself and frequently went to sleep at night listening to the radio through the ear piece which probably explains my interest in 60's music. Fast forward a few dozen years and me obtaining my BS Electrical Engineering degree and working as a DoD Contractor primarily doing Test and Evaluation of various systems (for which the EE degree came in handy) and in 2007 I finally went and obtained my Technician level Amateur Radio license (KI4VFV), followed by my General license and finally my Extra Class license / Vanity Call WS4M in 2017. I am an ARRL member and still am an ARES/RACES Assistant Emergency Coordinator (AEC) supporting the Huntsville / Madison County Emergency Management Agency here in Huntsville, Alabama, even though my wife (N4GFW) and I have started to become Snowbirds. Yup, Spring through Fall we'll be in the Grand Haven, MI area and then come Winter we'll be back in the Huntsville, AL area.

Given all that, over the years I've had three Ham Shacks in three separate houses. The tour link below shows all three of the shacks (well, just plans for the 3rd shack in Michigan, come back later as that shack gets built and this web page gets updated). We sold the house where shack #2 was located and purchased a Condo. And an HOA. We can hit several local Repeaters on several bands with our hand helds so I'm not going to run down the rabbit hole of trying to install a "hidden" antenna for a formal shack.

I do have a Weather Station and once I get it set up here in Michigan, if you want to check out the weather here go to this web page to see what's happening at my northern QTH.

By the way, that's NOT my shack antenna up there at the top of the page, but I wish.... (Trivia time - whose antenna is that and why do I have it on my web page???)
