Welcome to the WS4M Home Page!

Yes, this is an Amateur Radio flavored web page. I've always had an interest in radio starting from when I was in the 3rd grade and Santa brought me a Crystal Radio kit for Christmas. I assembled it myself and frequently went to sleep at night listening to the radio through the ear piece which probably explains my interest in 60's music. Fast forward a few dozen years and me obtaining my BS Electrical Engineering degree and working as a DoD Contractor primarily doing Test and Evaluation of various systems (for which the EE degree came in handy) and in 2007 I finally went and obtained my Technician level Amateur Radio license (KI4VFV), followed by my General license and finally my Extra Class license / Vanity Call WS4M in 2017. I am an ARRL member and am an ARES/RACES Assistant Emergency Coordinator (AEC) supporting the Huntsville / Madison County Emergency Management Agency here in Huntsville, Alabama. Yup, I'm an NWS trained Storm Spotter also.

Now that I'm retired, my wife and I just down sized and moved into a smaller house. The good news is that it has a detached two car garage and I have permission to build me a Ham Shack in that garage. It's an ongoing process and just last weekend I got on the air on 2m phone. Digital and HF to come. I do have a Weather Station set up if you want to check out the weather in Huntsville, AL. Go to this web page to see what's happening at my QTH.

By the way, that's NOT my shack antenna up there at the top of the page, but I wish....
